The spark
Loyola College of Social Sciences (Autonomous) in Kerala is a NAAC A++ accredited institution. Its website ran on WordPress and was slow, especially on first load. The college needed a full rebuild: a public site, a digital admissions pipeline, and an admin system its staff could run without a developer on call.
/02
The friction
The scope was far wider than a website: a multi-step admission form with document uploads, two payment gateways, automated hall-ticket and application PDFs, a peer-review journal portal, an alumni network and an extension-services module. Each needed its own data model, and staff had to edit all of it from one admin system, without recurring third-party SaaS fees.
/03
The wiring
We built it on the Next.js App Router: server-rendered academic pages for SEO and a fast first paint, client-rendered forms and dashboards for interactivity, and one MySQL database behind it all. Applicants, journal authors, alumni and admin staff each get their own login session, checked before any protected page loads. Admission forms and hall tickets are rendered to PDF on the server.
/04
The build
A multi-step admission form covering programme, personal details, contact and family, academic records and payment. An admin panel with role-based access, including dedicated IQAC, journal and extension-services admins. An IQAC and NAAC sub-site with its own navigation for SSRs, AQARs, NIRF and autonomy documents. A journals portal with author registration and submissions, an extension-services module with donation and counselling-booking forms, and an alumni network. Staff control the homepage hero, announcements, faculty directory, course catalogue, news and galleries without code.
/05
Live
Live at loyolacollegekerala.edu.in, with the admissions portal at admissions.loyolacollegekerala.edu.in. When these screens were captured, admissions for the current intake were closed, and the site says so on the admissions page.
